Three prestigious international scientific conferences were successfully held at Sakarya University, Türkiye, from 24 to 28 June 2026. The events—the 5th International Conference on Innovations in Natural Science and Engineering (ICINSE2026), the 7th International Turkish World Conference on Chemical Sciences and Technologies (ITWCCST2026), and the 6th International Turkish Conference on Humic Substances (ITCHS2026)—officially commenced with a grand opening ceremony.

Bringing together nearly 200 distinguished scientists, researchers, and academics from approximately 25 countries, the conferences served as an important international scientific platform dedicated to advancing science, innovation, and global academic collaboration.

During the opening ceremony, speakers emphasized the significance of the conferences organized by Sakarya University, highlighting the importance of strengthening scientific cooperation among the countries of the Turkic world. They also discussed future prospects for international research in natural sciences, chemistry, engineering, and humic substances.

The opening ceremony was hosted and moderated in both Turkish and English by Mahsati Huseynova, Head of the Food Safety Movement of Azerbaijan and a specialist in healthy nutrition.

The official ceremony began with welcoming remarks by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Tutar, Chair of the Conference Organizing Committee and Professor at Sakarya University. He was followed by distinguished keynote speakers including Prof. Mahammad Babanli, a prominent scientist from the Institute of Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry of Azerbaijan; Prof. Dr. Deborah Pinheiro Dick, President of the International Humic Substances Society (Brazil); Academician Vagif Abbasov, Director General of the Institute of Petrochemical Processes of Azerbaijan; Prof. Rovnag Rzayev, Vice Rector of Azerbaijan State University of Economics; Prof. Mustafa Çetin, Director of Research and Development (R&D) at Istinye University; and Prof. Dr. Özer Köseoğlu, Vice Rector of Sakarya University. In their speeches, they underlined the scientific significance of the conferences and highly appreciated their contribution to the development of international scientific cooperation.

Following the opening ceremony, the official opening lecture was held at the Turgut Özal Culture and Congress Center of Sakarya University.

The opening lecture was moderated by Prof. Dr. Deborah Pinheiro Dick, President of the International Humic Substances Society. The keynote lecture was delivered by the world-renowned scientist Prof. Dr. Nicola Senesi of the University of Bari Aldo Moro, Italy, on the topic “The Role of Humic Substances Science in the Environment and Agriculture.” Professor Senesi discussed the strategic importance of humic substances in improving soil fertility, protecting the environment, promoting sustainable agriculture, and ensuring global food security.

Representing Azerbaijan at this distinguished international scientific platform, Mahsati Huseynova stated that serving as both moderator and host of such a prestigious conference, bringing together leading scientists from around the world, was both a great responsibility and a source of pride, as it provided an opportunity to present Azerbaijan’s scientific potential to the international community. She also expressed her sincere gratitude to Prof. Dr. Ahmet Tutar, Chair of the Organizing Committee, for entrusting her with this important role.

Throughout the conference, Mahsati Huseynova, representing Azerbaijan as Head of the Food Safety Movement and a healthy nutrition specialist, held meetings with scientists and university representatives from various countries. During these meetings, the participants exchanged views on opportunities for international cooperation in the fields of food safety, healthy nutrition, environmental protection, and sustainable agriculture.

As part of the conference program, certificates were presented to scientists from different countries in recognition of their contributions to scientific research and the promotion of international academic cooperation. During the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nicola Senesi presented Mahsati Huseynova with a certificate of appreciation in recognition of her successful service as the moderator and master of ceremonies of the international conference.

The scientific sessions, panel discussions, and presentations organized within the framework of the conference attracted considerable interest from participants. As part of the social program, guests visited Sakarya’s historical, cultural, and tourist attractions, contributing to stronger friendships and closer scientific ties among researchers from different countries.

It is worth noting that the ICINSE2026, ITWCCST2026, and ITCHS2026 conferences, hosted by Sakarya University, are regarded as among the region’s most prestigious scientific platforms dedicated to promoting science, innovation, and international collaboration. The scientific findings presented during these conferences are expected to make a significant contribution to the development of future international research projects.
