This day is very painful day in the history of Azerbaijan, A sad dark night between January 19 to 20, 1990, the USSR leadership committed the crimes against humanity. 26,000 Soviet troops invaded Baku, Sumgait and other cities of Azerbaijan. As a result of this military intervention, 147 civilians were killed and 744 were seriously injured. Government and people of Azerbaijan remember this incident as “Black January” and declared National Mourning Day

Such acts are gross violation of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and all other International laws.

Youth of Pakistan have deep respect and gratitude the memory of all heroes who gave their lives for the independence of Azerbaijan, as well as for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of country.

We will continue to support the legitimate demand of victim families for justice and to bring the culprits under law for various crimes against the people and state of Azerbaijan.

International community should play it’s role and they have to take action against the perpetrators of war crimes, for the sake of humanity.

Zaman Banjwa,

Pakistan
