“We request the Armenian authorities to hand over the minefield maps to the Azerbaijani authorities so we can save more and more lives. We also request the international community to force Armenia to hand over the maps of the fields to the Azerbaijani authorities,” Muhammad Zaman Khan, executive director of the YFK International Kashmir told AZERTAC.
He further added: “The landmine explosion is a global issue in the conflict zones. Every year, more than 5,000 people lose their lives, and people between 15 to 20 thousand get injured due to such incidents. So, there is a need to create awareness regarding this issue. Karabakh region of Azerbaijan is another area which is heavily mined due to the 30 years of war in that area. So, there’s the end of this conflict now and people are returning to that area.”
