President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, arrived in Islamabad on Thursday for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Prime Minister Sharif, alongside Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar, warmly welcomed President Aliyev at Nur Khan Airbase.

The arrival of the Azerbaijani leader was marked by a 21-gun salute, and two children in traditional attire presented him with bouquets.

During his visit, President Aliyev will hold high-level discussions with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari, focusing on a wide range of topics to enhance bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Pakistan. “We are honoured to host President Aliyev,” said Prime Minister Sharif. “This visit signifies the strong bond between our two nations and our commitment to furthering mutual interests.”

President Zardari echoed these sentiments, stating, “Azerbaijan and Pakistan share a rich history of friendship. We look forward to enhancing our collaboration in various sectors.”

The visit is expected to lead to the signing of several agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to solidify the partnership between the two countries.
