The former President of Mongolia Nambaryn Enkhbayar, who is visiting Baku to participate in the 11th Global Baku Forum, met with the staff of the international magazine “My Azerbaijan”.

The meeting took place in the editorial office of the international magazine “My Azerbaijan”. The editor-in-chief of the international magazine and corresponding member of the International Academy of Sciences Emil Nasirli, by welcoming the former President of Mongolia Nambaryn Enkhbayar, said that diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Mongolia were established in 1992. In consideration of the fact that Mongolia was also the place where the ancient Turkic states were founded, this country is always in the interest of the Turkic world, including Azerbaijan. The editor-in-chief also recalled that Azerbaijan and Mongolia are united by ancient historical and cultural ties, as well as pleasant memories entailing cultural and educational cooperation during the years of the Soviet Union. For example, in 1971, during the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the victory of the Mongolian People’s Revolution, the Days of Mongolian Culture were held in Baku for the first time. Some facts related to the cultural heritage of the Mongol empires from Genghis Khan and his grandson Hulaku Khan’s period have been preserved in the territory of Azerbaijan. Also, some Azerbaijani words are the same with the Mongolian language. Overall, this means that there is great potential for the development of cultural and scientific cooperation between two countries.

Since the 1950s, Mongolian students began to study at former Azerbaijan Oil and Chemical Institute, and since then, more than 50 young specialists have graduated from Azerbaijan universities. Azerbaijanis were among the Soviet specialists who worked in Mongolia during 1970s and 80s. The academy of sciences of two countries has business cooperation efforts in history, archeology and ethnography.
At the meeting, editor-in-chief Emil Nasirli, who gave extensive information to the former President of Mongolia Nambaryn Enkhbayar about the activities of the international magazine “My Azerbaijan”, also emphasized that Mongolian-Azerbaijani relations have intensified in recent years, especially after the visit of the Mongolian President to Azerbaijan in 2018. The first Mongolian-Azerbaijani business forum was held in Ulaanbaatar in 2018, and later the parties signed an intergovernmental agreement on trade and economic cooperation in 2021. Moreover, for the first time, political consultation of foreign ministries was held at the level of deputy ministers. The parties are actively working on draft intergovernmental agreements of cooperation in the air transport and energy sectors.

At the meeting, Emil Nasirli stated that our country attaches great importance to cooperation with Mongolia and will expend all reasonable endeavors to deepen the relations between two countries, which are based on ancient historical roots, and added that there is great potential for the development of relations between our countries in political, economic, cultural and other fields. The editor-in-chief also said that “We hope that all these steps will boost the development of bilateral relations”.

Later, the former President of Mongolia Nambaryn Enkhbayar, got acquainted with the photo booth depicting the activities of the international magazine “My Azerbaijan” over the past years in the main editor’s office and wished the staff of the international magazine “My Azerbaijan” new creative successes in their future activities.
